I found a new location to meditate. It was quiet the couple times I visited there. We might meditate for 40 mins or a full hour.

This our second attempt at a meditation meeting, so not everything is known yet, we’ll iron out any details as we continue with future meditation meetings.

This is a “universal meditation” meeting meaning you get to meditate in any manner/style that you prefer, Zen, TM, SFQ, psychic, etc.. You are free to be seated on a chair (library conference room chairs), on a yoga mat, lotus position, lay down, cover up in a blanket, lean against the wall etc..

I ask that you please not move often or make a distracting noises beyond the normal deep breathing, coughing, sneezing, and occasional shifting, these are normal things that one should incorporate into their practice, along with any noises coming from outside the room. This event is not for walking meditation.

Please turn off your cellphone, do not make or accept any calls during this event. Please walk quietly in the room. No pets allowed or kids that are unable to engage in long meditation.

If you are interested in a chat, catching up with the group, or a quick instruction on how to meditate, please show up at 6:30PM, at the same conference room.

If you just want to drop in, sit down, and meditate then arrive at 7:00PM enter the conference room quietly, if we’ve started the meditation find a spot and start, if we are still conversing we’ll update you on when we will start. Note: the door might be locked if we’ve started so I highly recommend you be there before 7:00PM.

If you request, I can guide the group into the meditation (i.e.  give suggestions on breathing, mental imagery, and thus help you get yourself into a meditative state as we start the meditation session, then be silent for the remainder of time)

Once time is up, I (hope to have) some Tibetan bowl or bell or tuning fork to use it to indicate with it gently that time is up.

Please bring with:

  • water or a food item if you get hungry around this time,
  • blanket if you tend to get cold,
  • yoga mat or meditation cushion if you rather sit on the floor or lay down,
  • Any item that you like to have with you, something to meditate with, something to gaze at or hold with you. Suggestions include: rock, crystal, any piece of nature, mandala.. I will likely have nothing with me but my breath.
  • I like to use an essential oil when I meditate, you are allowed to bring essential oils, but no artificial/chemical perfumes. Also please ask the person closest to you if they are ok with the smell, some people are sensitive even to the smell of essential oils.

I will be at the conference room from 6:30PM until 8:00PM (closing time).  We might lock the door right before we start meditating in order to disallow people from the general public to walk in and distract us. The room has no windows, so it is very private.

Once you enter the library entrance lobby area, look for the door to the conference room across from the library door. If you find yourself in a large room with books and computers you’re inside the library :) go back to the door you came in and across the lobby you will see the conference room door.

I look forward to seeing you there for a peaceful meditative experience.

If you have any questions please call 612-432-6466 or leave a comment below.  To RSVP please leave a comment below, you can log-in and RSV or RSVP without logging in, all i need is your first name to show somewhere in the RSVP comment.  If only one other person RSVPs besides myself (here or on our meetup page) this event is still “on”.

  1. I guess I will not be coming being it was held in December. I will hopefully get the hang on this soon.

Saturday is a good time. I am in Coon Rapids, so I would not have to deal with traffic.
